About Camp Lejeune Fisher House

Front of the Fisher House

The Camp Lejeune Fisher House is the first Fisher House aboard a Marine Corps Installation and is part of an entire Wounded Warrior Complex built within walking distance of Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune. The complex includes a 200 man Wounded Warrior Battalion-East Bachelor Enlisted Quarters, Wounded Warrior Battalion-East Headquarters and rehabilitation center known as the “Warrior Hope & Care Center,” as well as the Camp Lejeune Fisher House.

The Camp Lejeune Fisher House supports Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune, a major military treatment facility that supports over 50,000 Active Duty Marines, Sailors, Coast Guardsmen and their families as well as over 25,000 retirees and their families in Eastern North Carolina. The Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune includes the main hospital as well as five branch clinics located strategically throughout more than 250 miles of federal installation aboard both MCB Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River. In addition to the Branch Clinics, Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune also boasts a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Clinic, as well as Mother Child Infant Nursing unit, Radiology, Pediatrics, and a large Family Medicine Department.

The Camp Lejeune Fisher House is a “home away from home” for active and retired families of patients who have been admitted for medical care at the Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune. The house is available to families who are coping with the medical crisis of a loved one and have no local accommodations.

The house is a comfortably furnished home with twelve (12) suites and can accommodate up to forty (40) family members. The home features a fully equipped common kitchen, laundry room, as well as common living and dining rooms.

The Camp Lejeune Fisher House broke ground in May of 2008 and will open in the Summer of 2010.

There are more than forty-five (45) Fisher Houses located at major military treatment facilities and VA Medical Centers throughout the United States with more being built. The homes have been given as a gift by the Fisher House Foundation. The Secretaries of the respective Military Services and the Secretary of Veteran’s Affairs are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the homes once they are built.
